How Banksia Web collects, uses and looks after your personal information, in plain English.
Last updated 30 October 2026
1. About this policy
Banksia Web (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a small web design studio in Australia. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have.
2. What we collect
We only collect what we need to reply to you and do our work. This may include:
- Contact details, such as your name, business name, email address and phone number.
- Project details you choose to share through our quote form or by email, such as your current website address, what you need, your timeline and any files you upload.
- Records of our dealings with you, such as messages, quotes, invoices and approvals.
- Technical information your browser sends when you visit our site, such as your IP address, browser and device type, used to keep the site secure and stop spam.
Please don’t send us sensitive information, such as health information, through our forms or by email.
3. How we collect it
Most information comes directly from you: when you fill in our quote form, email us, or speak with us by phone or video call. Some technical information is collected automatically when you use our website.
You can contact us without giving your name, but we may not be able to prepare a quote or deliver a project without it.
4. How we use it
We use your personal information to:
- reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote
- design, build, launch and look after your website
- send invoices and keep business and tax records
- keep our website secure and free of spam
- meet our legal obligations
We don’t send marketing emails unless you’ve asked for them, and every one includes an easy way to opt out.
5. Who we share it with
We never sell or rent your personal information. We only share it with trusted service providers who help us run our business, and only what they need to do their job:
- our website hosting and business email provider
- Cloudflare, whose Turnstile check protects our forms from spam
- the accounting and invoicing tools we use to bill you
- services needed for your project, such as your domain registrar or booking platform, with your agreement
We may also disclose information where the law requires or allows it.
6. Information sent overseas
Some of our service providers, including Cloudflare, may process information outside Australia, for example in the United States. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is handled in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
7. Cookies
Our website uses a small number of cookies that it needs to work and stay secure, such as those used by our spam protection and to remember your cookie choices. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
If we add website analytics in future, we’ll ask for your consent through our cookie banner first and update this policy. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
8. How we store and protect it
We keep information in secure, password-protected systems and limit access to the people who need it.
We keep enquiry details for as long as we need to respond and follow up, and client records for as long as we need them to provide our services and meet tax and legal record-keeping requirements (generally up to seven years). After that, we delete or de-identify it.
If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will let you know and, where required, notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
9. Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at any time by emailing hello@banksiaweb.com.au. We will respond within 30 days and there is no charge to make a request.
10. Questions and complaints
If you have a question or concern about how we handle your information, email us at hello@banksiaweb.com.au. We will look into it and reply within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
